With the OS 15000 Zeutschel is presenting an economic and easy-to-use solution to the various tasks that digitalisation demands. The new book scanner combines a high degree of functionality and convenient operation with a compact, sophisticated design and an excellent cost-performance ratio (as low as 9,900 Euro for the standard model).
Its covers a wide area of applications ranging from mass digitization projects to document delivery and inter-library loans to catalogue enrichment. The Zeutschel OS 15000 will be available from autumn 2011.
"The Zeutschel OS 15000 as much takes the cultural-historical commitments of libraries and archives into account as it does the demands of an information society increasingly dominated by the internet. This allows irreplaceable material such as manuscripts, incunabula or old periodical publications to be digitally saved whilst at the same time allowing central library collections to be presented to a wider public via the internet", stresses Jörg Vogler, Managing Director of Zeutschel GmbH.
Aesthetics meets performance
The high performance capabilities of the OS 15000 are demonstrated by its basic technical data: maximum 600 dpi resolution at 42 bit colour quality, short scanning cycles and brilliant colour reproduction.
The new system design provides a host of practical advantages. The OS 15000 functions reliably regardless of the ambient light and the user is not subjected to glare during its operation.
The working area for scanning with the OS 15000 is between A3 and A2. "In practice", says Jörg Vogler, "more than 95 percent of book stock is in A4 format and smaller, consequently, when opened they are A3 at most". Which means that the OS 15000 can digitalise formats which are larger than A3 but take up considerably less space than a conventional book scanner in the process.
Integrated imaging software corrects typical copy errors: crooked pages and distorted letters in the book folds of thicker books are automatically straightened. With the supplied scanning software OS 12, the new Zeutschel book scanner is easy to use.
The OS 15000 stands out thanks to its compact size and sets new design standards in book scanners. "We had a specific aim in mind which was to design a book scanner that was aesthetically eye-catching whilst still being a device that people would enjoy working with", explains Jörg Vogler.
A large book cradle is included in the scope of delivery and an optional high-performance PC with display is also available.
The OS 15000 target groups are digitalisation service providers, digitalisation locations in libraries, archives and museums as well as inter-library loan service departments.
